The Bugatti Tourbillon shatters expectations with a plug-in hybrid system that pairs a naturally aspirated 16-cylinder gasoline engine from Cosworth with three electric motors. Together they deliver 1,800 horsepower, offering thrilling performance while preserving the emotional sound of a high-revving V16. CEO Mate Rimac deliberately avoided an all-electric route, insisting that true Bugatti DNA must include the visceral roar of combustion.

One electric motor sits at the rear and two at the front, contributing 800 horsepower alone. The hybrid setup also enables a 37-mile electric-only range, allowing silent city drives without sacrificing the ability to run the gas engine continuously on track or highway.

Design Inspired by Horology

The Tourbillon takes its name from the intricate gear mechanism of a mechanical watch. That influence is most visible inside the cockpit, where the instrument cluster mimics a watch face with two needles—one for speed, one for revs—that resemble clock hands. A large central display with Apple CarPlay remains hidden until needed, preserving a timeless, screen-free aesthetic. Bugatti designers deliberately avoided permanent digital screens to ensure the car does not age visually.

Exclusivity and Pricing

Only 250 examples of the Tourbillon will be hand-assembled at Bugatti’s historic Molsheim factory in France. The starting price of $4 million reflects advanced hybrid technology, exquisite craftsmanship, and extreme exclusivity. Each car is a bespoke creation tailored to its owner’s tastes.
