At CES in Las Vegas, Vietnamese automaker VinFast unveiled MirrorSense, a next-generation system that eliminates manual mirror adjustments. Using real-time eye-tracking sensors, it automatically positions all three rearview mirrors to give the driver an optimal view, regardless of seat position or head movement. VinFast claims the sensors are accurate to within 10 millimeters, ensuring precision every time.

MirrorSense is a joint project between VinFast and VinAI, the artificial intelligence arm of parent conglomerate Vingroup. A network of sensors continuously monitors the driver's gaze and head position. Data is processed instantly, allowing the mirrors to adapt to any movement. The system can also memorize a driver's face, automatically restoring preferred mirror settings as soon as they enter the vehicle.
Safety Beyond Mirror Adjustment
Automating mirror alignment reduces human error and the risk of accidents from blind spots. But MirrorSense goes further: the same sensors detect signs of drowsiness or distraction, integrating with existing driver monitoring systems to prevent fatigue-related crashes.
Availability and Industry Impact
VinFast has not announced a commercial release date. The technology remains in development, requiring further testing before it can be installed in production vehicles. However, MirrorSense has already earned accolades at CES.
