Planning will help in understanding the type of work environment
in which a nurse can expect to practice. Planning ahead can
help individuals deal with uncertainty and change, develop
talents, avoid burn out, and most of all, give some control
in life. When designing goals, you, as a nurse, should know
what you want and assess where you are in regards to the qualifications
required. Know what preparation is needed for the position
you desire (personal characteristics, education, skills, etc.).
Make sure that you have a polished resume. Prepare for the
position you want by obtaining the education and qualifications

RNs also develop
and manage nursing care plans, instruct patients and their
families in proper care, and information on a career as a
registered nurse and nursing education. Registered nurses
(RNs) work to promote health, prevent disease, and help patients
cope with illness. They are advocates and health educators
for patients, families, and communities. When providing direct
patient care, they observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions,
and progress in patients; assist physicians during surgeries,
treatments, and examinations; administer medications; and
assist in convalescence and rehabilitation. RNs also develop
and manage nursing care plans, instruct patients and their
families in proper care, and help individuals and groups take
steps to improve or maintain their health.
